We are seeking an experienced Working Supervisor to oversee operational activities at our Port Melbourne site. This role requires strong leadership, technical oversight, and a commitment to safety and compliance. You will be responsible for coordinating teams and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Contract: 6-9 months
What You’ll Do:
- Safety & Compliance: Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment; ensure all team members follow WHS standards and procedures.
- Conduct and oversee risk assessments, job safety analyses, and high-risk work approvals.
- Contractor Coordination: Liaise with subcontractors, oversee site logistics (access, deliveries, plant positioning), and represent the team in site meetings.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and corrective action reports; provide updates on progress and deviations.
- Induction & Competency Checks: Support worker inductions, verify licenses/tickets, and ensure competency across all operatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and safety outcomes.
What You’ll Bring:
- Trade qualification (Cert III in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication).
- Proven supervisory experience in trade, energy, industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
- Strong technical knowledge with ability to interpret engineering/project documents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and operational teams effectively.
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and industry codes (ASME, API, ASTM).
